You can use dynamic tags (or dynamic fields) to replace static text strings (e.g. "Dear
Customer, ...") with information that is dynamically retrieved from the contacts database (e.g. "Dear
Peter, ...").
Dynamic fields are one of the options included in the "Message+" package. To use dynamic fields, follow these instructions:
- Click on the advanced option "Enable dynamic fields" at the bottom of the message editor, if it's not already active
- Highlight the text string that you wish to replace with dynamic data and click on the "Insert dynamic fields" button in the message editor toolbar. It looks like this:

- Click on the personal data field that you wish to use
For example, if you want to customize your message with the recipient's first name, the message text will appear as shown below after you have inserted the dynamic field:
"Dear [first name]"
In the list of dynamic fields shown below the message editor window, you can choose a default value that the system can use in case some personal data is not available for some users in your database. For instance, you can use the default value "Customer" that will be filled in if the customer's first name is not available.
Dynamic fields can also be used in the HTML code, for example to use personal data as parameters for a link.
To preview which values will be used when the message is actually sent:
- Add the message to the send queue, then go to Email > Queue
- Select the message from the drop-down menu
- Click on "Show options" and again on "Check dynamic fields"
- You will be able to download a .csv file that will include the customer data instead of the dynamic tags
